Privacy Policy

Introduction
Mahanti Corporation LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Speed Read Classics application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, what it does not, and the choices you have.
There is no account and no login. You never give us a name, an email address or a password in order to use the App.
What Stays on Your Device
The books and your reading are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to us:
- Book text — every novel ships inside the App
- Reading progress — your place in each book, chapters started and completed, and words read
- Settings — reading speed, font, font size, pivot-letter colour and pacing preferences
Usage Analytics
The App sends usage events to PostHog, an analytics service, so we can see how the App is actually used and improve it. These are events about what happens in the App, not about who you are. Examples include opening a book, starting and completing a chapter, changing the reading speed or font, viewing or dismissing the subscription screen, and taking a screenshot.
Each event carries context about the session it happened in — your current reading speed, font settings, pivot-letter colour, pacing settings, how many chapters you have completed, whether you have an active subscription, and the App's version and build number. The analytics service also receives standard technical information that its SDK collects by default, such as your device model and operating system version, and it may derive an approximate location from the IP address your requests come from.
Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device the first time the App runs. That identifier is not your name, your email address or your Apple ID, and it is specific to this installation — deleting and reinstalling the App creates a new one. We cannot use it to identify you personally.
Analytics are disabled entirely in simulator builds and in our App Store screenshot runs.
How to Turn Analytics Off
You can opt out at any time: open Settings in the App and press and hold the Version row for about a second and a half. A confirmation appears telling you whether analytics are now on or off. The choice is remembered across launches, and while it is off no analytics events leave your device. Pressing and holding the same row again turns analytics back on.
Feedback You Send Us
Settings includes an optional feedback box. If you use it, the message you write is sent to our feedback service along with the App version, your device model, your operating system version, your device locale and whether you have an active subscription. It is delivered to our team's Slack.
The message is free text, so it contains whatever you choose to type. If you include your email address so that we can reply, we receive it; if you do not, we have no way to contact you. Please do not put anything in the box that you would not want us to read.
So that a half-written note is not lost, text you have typed into the feedback box is periodically sent to the same service as a draft while the box is open, before you press Send.
Subscriptions and Payments
Speed Read Classics offers optional subscriptions through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. What we receive from Apple is your subscription status — whether a subscription is active, whether it renewed, and whether it was cancelled.
When you purchase, the App passes the same random analytics identifier to Apple as the purchase's account token. Apple returns it with the subscription notifications it sends our server, which lets us attribute a renewal or a cancellation to the same anonymous analytics record as the reading events from your device. Apple's transaction identifiers are linked to that record for the same reason. This linking does not happen if you have opted out of analytics.
What the App Does Not Collect
- No user accounts, sign-in or password
- No name or email address, unless you type one into the feedback box yourself
- No access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or precise location
- No cloud sync of your library or reading progress
- No advertising, ad networks or advertising identifiers
- We do not sell your information to anyone
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- PostHog — product analytics, as described above
- Apple StoreKit — subscription purchases and status (Apple handles all payment data)
- Our feedback service — only for notes you send from the feedback box
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the App has no accounts and asks for no personal details, the only way personal information could reach us is if it is typed into the feedback box. If you believe a child has sent us such information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Choices
You can turn analytics off at any time using the gesture described above. Deleting the App removes your reading progress, your settings and the random identifier from your device. If you would like us to delete feedback you have sent, or the analytics record associated with your installation, email us and we will do so.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
